I have been looking for a ring to purchase that had a unique design, something that I have never seen before. That is when I found FarOutCreations. I just fell in love with this shop and all of her rings! It took me about an hour to decide on which one to buy because I just loved them all. Pictured below is the ring that I finally decided on. It came in the mail today and I have to say that it is much more beautiful than I expected it to be! Rebecca has such a talent for design and she is a pleasure to work with!

Mosaic Bookmarks & Pendants

My latest creative outlet has been making mosaic bookmarks and pedants. I have to tell you, these are so much fun to make! I started with bookmarks a couple months ago, but decided to expand into making pendants also. This year all the teachers and their helpers received bookmarks for their "end-of-the-year" gifts. After the last three years of making flower pots and gazing balls for their gifts, this year was much simpler and MUCH faster. Here are a few examples of what I have done so far:

These are my latest inspirational mosaics (Faith and Hope). I had a wonderful time creating these and I am very please with how the lettering turned out. I even had a chance to play with the polymer clay a bit more. I am hoping to make other inspirational pieces in the near future.

OK, so here it goes! Seven things about me:

1. When my husband and I first got married we had lots of pets. This is the list:
1. two cows (yes, they were pets)
2. two donkeys
3. 3 dogs
4. 3 cats
5. several ducks and geese
6. two aquariums
7. one rabbit

We sold the large animals because they were eating us out of house and home. The smaller animals have since passed on although we currently have a dog, a bird, 2 hermit crabs, and one aquarium... and a bunny that we are getting for the kids this coming Sunday.

2. I am raising my children in the very in the house where my grandfather was raised.

3. I love to read (and a little embarrassed to admit) that my favorite books are historical romances.

4. I often feel that I was born 100- 150 years too late. I sometimes find it difficult to keep up with the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I long for the days when life was simpler.

5. I am 35 years old and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

6. My husband has a small maple syrup operation that I help with a little... mostly helping with collecting the sap. The rest is up to him.

7. Autumn is my favorite season. I love the colors of the leaves, the pumpkins, the cool, crisp weather, and everything else that the season brings.

Birdhouse with Polymer Clay Tiles

I wanted to make a mosaic birdhouse. After thinking over what I would like to do, I decided to use polymer clay to make my own tiles. I wanted something very bright and I couldn't find a china pattern or even stained glass that I wanted to use.

The colors I used were a hot pink, bright orange, green apple, voilet, red, blue, and yellow. It was my first time making a project using primarily polymer clay, so it was a challenge for me. I had some fabulous help and guidance from another etsy seller who has become a good friend. Her name is Betsy and her etsy shop can be found at http://www.greenegoddess.etsy.com/.

I added a couple tiles before I took the first photo, but this is basically what I started with:

I had the make all of the polymer clay tiles and for the birdhouse which was the most time consuming part of the whole project. I covered the individual tiles with tape before adhereing them to the birdhouse. I did use some stained glass which can be seen around the bottom and along the edges of the roof.

The next step was grouting the birdhouse. Since this is a 3D mosaic, grouting was a little trickier than grouting a flat mosaic, but somehow I managed. Here it is finished:

My Retro Serving Trays

I love the way these trays came out! I really like the retro look. I usually work with florals and stained glass so these were a little different for me. They were quick, easy and fun to make.

My New Birdhouse

I have just completed my very first mosaic birdhouse! Be sure to check out the photos below. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The base is a wooden birdhouse. I used vintage china, a bit of not-so-vintage china, stained glass tiles, small ceramic tiles, cameos, porcelain roses, and a tea cup handle for a perch. It is going to be difficult parting with this one since I like it so much!

Hi! My name is Vicki and I am a stay at home mom of two boys. I have always been a crafter, but created my first mosaic about 3 years ago and never looked back. I have been selling mosaic supplies since the spring of 2006. I have sold my art off and on for about 2 years, but have been making mosaic gifts for family and friends since 2005. Recently, I have been concentrating on creating mosaics rather than supplying others... it's just too much fun!
